Two sides of the same coin.

The world of artisan wine is extremely fortunate because it’s impossible to make wines that are the same from year to year. I mean how could you possibly compare two years as different as 2014 and 2015.
This picture shows the conditions of my Merlot today, the 3rd of August 2015. Last year, it was the 10th of September at the earliest before it looked like this.
Two different years and two different wines. Better or worse?
It’s all down to the winemaker, initially in the vineyard and later in the cellar.
Which of the two is more characteristic of the varietal is something we could wax lyrical about for hours.
At the end of the day, they’re just two different wines, like two sides of the same coin.

Il mondo del vino artigianale ha una grande fortuna perché impossibile fare vini uguali ogni anno come raffrontare due annate quasi diametralmente opposte come la 2014 e l’attuale 2015.
In foto la situazione del Merlot il 3 di Agosto 2015. L’anno scorso per vedere una invaiatura del genere bisognava aspettare il 10 settembre come minimo.
Quindi diverse come diversi i vini.
Migliore o peggiore?
Tutto sta nella mano del vignaiolo prima in vigna poi in cantina.
L’affermazione più tipico o meno tipico invece rientra nella sfera delle seghe mentali.
Semplicemente vini diversi come due diverse facce di una medaglia.
