Global warming, #harvest19

Before installing the @davisinstruments weather station, I would never have believed that I’d see an ET (evapotranspiration) reading of 497 within the space of less than six months. The constant wind creates even bigger disasters if we look at the ET figure in relation to the amount of rainfall since 1 January: 141 mm. (For weather experts and enthusiasts, we actually need to add a further 40 mm to that to consider the amount of water lost as a result of snow sublimation, but 40 mm wouldn’t make any difference to the overall picture anyway). This is why we have to mulch and protect the soil, to trap in as much humidity as possible, keeping the ground temperature down and preventing the sun from coming into direct contact with the bare soil. This “picture” and these emergencies are very recent (15-20 days with acceleration in the last 7-8) so I hope there’s going to be a change in the #Nizzadocg allowing the planting of vineyards with “cooler” exposures.

Prima di installare la stazione meteorologica della Davis Instruments, mai avrei creduto di leggere 497 di ET (evapotraspirazione) in nemmeno sei mesi.
Il costante vento fa disastri ancor più se relazioniamo il dato ET con i mm di pioggia caduta dal 1 Gennaio: 141.(per i più esperti e patiti di meteo a questi 141 andrebbero aggiunti 40 mm circa che sono stati persi dallo strumento per sublimazione della neve. 40 in più non cambierebbero comunque il quadro).
Per questo è necessario pacciamare e proteggere il suolo cercando di disperdere meno umidità possibile, contenere la temperatura del terreno ed evitare che sole e vento vadano a diretto contatto con la terra nuda.
Questo “quadro” è queste emergenze sono molto recenti (15-20 con accelerazione negli ultimi 7-8) per cui auspico una adeguata modifica del disciplinare del #Nizzadocg per inserire vigne ed esposizioni più “fresche”.
